How the smallest bank in Switzerland continues to grow
While large banks compete on scale, technology and global presence, some of the most interesting cases happen on a local level.
Ersparniskasse Speicher — considered the smallest bank in Switzerland — reported profit growth for the 2025 financial year.
The bank’s balance sheet amounts to around CHF 80.7 million, while net profit reached CHF 222K, slightly higher than the previous year.
Its model remains remarkably simple:
• focus on mortgage lending
• strong relationships with local clients
• a traditional interest margin banking model.
This case once again shows that in finance size does not always determine resilience.
Sometimes trust and regional presence are the strongest competitive advantages.
